Presentation of Self

Hoffman’s theory of presentation of self states that we are all playing roles. He also states that we have different versions of our selves that are shown to different groups or places. In relation to Kanye West, he would be showing a different version of himself for the different facets of his life. His music, Twitter and interactions with his followers, his clothing line, and his campaign for the presidency. This would mean that Kanye West's tweets and outbursts could be a performance to sell his music. However, because of the way he tweets sporadically, he may not be performing. His self on Twitter could be a combination of all other versions of himself.
